Shrink Those Gum Pockets...

Truth Is Important - Shrink Those Gum Pockets...

I have always been a bit of skeptic - even as a child.  What does five decades of healthy skepticism get you besides a cynical view point?   It gets you to truth.  At the very least, it gets you closer to the truth.

When I was a student in professional school, I became disenchanted.  So many things were wrong and I knew it.  The narratives on health, what it is, and how to get it, were all messed up.  Consequently, I decided to leave.

But, I took with me the knowledge I had learned.  Later, when I had gum problems like so many people reading this, I was able to find and recognize the HydroFloss for what it could do.   I tried many things before I got to the HydroFloss (yes, including oil pulling)  Those things did NOT work for me.

It was my use of the HydroFloss that caused my gums to get healthy again.  It was the HydroFloss that caused my dentist at the time to say, "Whatever you are doing, keep it up.  You don't need that treatment any longer".   (She was referring to the dreaded SRP or Scaling and Root Planing Treatment)

I discovered something that worked and saved me money both in the short term, and I'm convinced, in the long term as well.

Keeping our original teeth for a lifetime of good service, or at least, not losing any more is a worthy goal to pursue.  The HydroFloss is the most effective tool I know of.   It shrunk my gum pockets back to normal levels.  I've heard from many people over the years, and it has done the same for them.

Time to celebrate the finding of one elegant and simple truth in this lifetime - Celebrating: The HydroFloss:

HydroFloss Pump - A Thank You

HydroFloss Pump - A Thank You

Hi David,

Thank you for the prompt delivery of the Hydro Floss pump.

Our Hydro Floss was leaking and when I determined it wasn't the hose, I thought we would need a new machine.

I looked inside and figured it must be coming from the pump, but couldn't find information about that online.

Then I saw that you sell the pumps.  I appreciated your candidness about not guaranteeing that it would fix anything, but I figured I'd give it a shot.  I put it in last night and it fixed the problem.

I saved a bunch of money and kept an otherwise good machine out of the waste stream.

Thanks for selling this part and for making it so easy to find it,

Bill

Covid-19 And Gum Disease

Covid-19 And Gum Disease

Today's Theme:  "Your mouth reflects the health of your body".

Interesting Info On Gum Disease and Covid-19

Researchers have, for many years, noticed a relationship between gum disease and heart disease, lung disease, diabetes and a number of other illnesses.

Farmers have always known that the health of livestock is reflected in their mouths.  Hence, the saying, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth".

Now, The Journal of Clinical Periodontology has published an article indicating that there is a relationship between gum disease and Covid-19 in the sense of higher risk of ICU admission, ventilator need and death.

You can read more here:

As you may have heard me say many times: the HydroFloss is the best tool that I have personally used to help my gums to get healthy and stay healthy.   Keep your pockets to 3mm or less.   If you can do that, generally speaking, most dental professionals would say your gums are healthy.

As you can see above,  keeping your gums healthy may have a big impact on the health of the rest of your body.

You may share this newsletters with others if you would like to!

Thank You And Stay Motivated!

The Journal mentioned above, also published two studies on the HydroFloss, both studies showed that the HydroFloss was about 50% more effective at reducing plaque and tartar buildup between your regular dental cleanings - compared to irrigators without the patented hydromagnetic technology.   Those studies were published in May 0f 1993 and April of 1998 in the journal.

Hopefully, you found motivation to keep on hydro flossing.  Stay diligent with it.   Always ask your hygienist or dentist to measure your pockets and make sure they are at or below 3mms.

The Case For The HydroFloss Oral Irrigator

Gum disease is a problem that has plagued humankind for thousands of years.   It is not new.  It goes by many names:  Gingivitis, gum disease, periodontal disease, stage 2 periodontal disease, etc.   What is important to know is that all of those names are simply the same disease process in different forms or stages.

The underlying problem is the same, the extent of damage is different.   Many dental experts say that 75% or about 3/4 of the human population is afflicted with this problem.  Some say 80%.

But many people can change the problem.   It's important to understand that the disease process is very likely arrested if you can shrink your periodontal pockets down to 3mm or less.   Most dental professionals, general speaking, will agree that your gums are healthy when those pockets are 3mm or less.

This gives you a goal to shoot for.

When I was personally struggling with this problem, I tried many things.   But, what really, really worked for me was a device called the HydroFloss Oral Irrigator.

Over the years, I have spoken to many people and others have told me they have seen their periodontal pockets shrink.  They attribute it to the HydroFloss as I did in my personal case.

If you want to take charge of this problem and want to try and shrink your pockets down to 3mm or less - as measured by your dentist or hygienist, I believe that the HydroFloss is your best chance to do so.

I believe it is the quickest, simplest, easiest and most eloquent way to deal with this problem.  There may be some who think they have a better method, but I feel confident that the HydroFloss is the best way to do it.

You can use coupon code toothy5  at either of the below stores to get your HydroFloss (if you want one).

I wish you the best in both your dental health and your overall health.

Sincerely,

Diet's Role In Your Dental Health

Diet May Play a Very Important Role In Your Dental Health

Some of the original work done on dental health and diet was done by Weston Price,  his book is:  Nutrition and Physical Degeneration

Leading up to this book,  Dr. Weston Price ( a dentist) went around the world and tried to figure out how some populations with poor dental hygiene managed to have perfectly good teeth with very little dental decay.

He found some of what he believed are the reasons.   Basically, traditional diets trumped the 'modern' diet of processed (and now semi processed foods) Find out what he knew in the above book.

2.  The Dental Diet by Dr. Steve Lin.  Dr. Lin also has noticed how diet is important to dental health.  One of my favorite stories in the book is about his grandmother and grandfather.   His grandfather loved to eat candy and it destroyed his teeth and health over time.   His grandmother would eat an egg after every meal and she had great teeth and good health into her later years.  Obviously, there is more to this book and you should check it out.

3.  Cure Tooth Decay   This is a very interesting book that might help you to heal cavities and strengthen your teeth via diet.   Most of the information is sound and the first book mentioned - Nutrition and Physical Degeneration is referenced as a major source for the author of Cure Tooth Decay.

The author of this book is Ramiel Nagel.  He has passed away at the young age of 38.   There are some things I don't agree with.   "Fermented"  Cod Liver Oil is something I would avoid.  Regular cod liver oil is fine.   I would not eat raw meat or raw organ meats under ANY circumstance.  Finally,  he is against xylitol which I am not.  Xylitol has proven itself to be helpful for dental health - both cavities and gum disease.  Other than that, it is a great book to read if you are interested in improving the health of your teeth.

4. Finally, if you like my work, please consider purchasing my book:  What You Should Know About Gum Disease.  It's not really about diet.  It's more about, well, exactly what the title suggests.

The HydroFloss oral irrigator is one of the most elegant, simple and effective tools that I have found to be helpful in my fight against gum disease - a problem that dental professionals tell us affects about 3 out of every 4 people.  It's also one of the leading causes of tooth loss.

*always be under the care of your dentist or periodontist for issues regarding your dental health.

Tips Shooting Off HydroFloss

Tips Shooting Of A New (or old) HydroFloss

The problem is most likely that you are not attaching the tip(s) properly.  They should snap into place.

I have personally examined hydrofloss units returned for the reason of 'tips shooting off' .  In nearly EVERY case, the tips worked fine and DID NOT come off under the highest pressure setting.

I even had one person return two in a row.  BOTH units worked fine.   This person was confused and mistaken, don't let this be you.

I can only conclude that some people are unable to attach the tips properly.   There should be a gentle snap when the tip is attached properly.

I'm very tired of hearing of this complaint.   People have returned perfectly fine and functioning units for no good reason except perhaps one  - user error.

If you cannot get the tips to attach properly.  Call the number on your blue warranty card that comes with every new HydroFloss.  They can help you figure it out.

But do not assume that the problem is legitimate because in nearly EVERY case I have examined the problem does not exist.   This results in the waste of perfectly good hydrofloss units.    That is not good for you,  not good for us and not good for the environment.

So, before you get angry about tips shooting off, please make sure you are putting them on correctly,. Experience has shown that 9.9 times out of 10,  the problem rests with the user and not the hydrofloss.

What is the diameter and length of the jet tip portion which is inserted in the handle? Pocket Pal Jet Tips

That question about diameter and length is an interesting one.

My recommendation on that is to only use genuine hydrofloss parts to place into your hydro floss handle.

Making your own parts for whatever reason or trying to fit an item that was not designed for the HydroFloss into the HydroFloss is also not recommended.

You can buy a package of pocket pal jet tips for less than $20.

Why not start there.  If you are trying to manufacture your own part, which again is not recommended, wouldn't it be best to have one in your hand?   But again, trying to reverse engineer things for your own purposes is not recommended.

The pocket pal jet tips are recommended for those who have 5-6 mm (millimeter) periodontal pockets.  This is a measurement that your hygienist or dentist can take.   Periodontal pockets are not the same as gum recession, they are two separate items.

Again, the pocket pal jet tips are for those with 5 to 6 mm periodontal pockets.  Periodontal pockets are measured by inserting a probe that measures the attachment of the gum to the tooth.  When that gap is larger, it means that the 'bad' bacteria can accumulate to levels that are larger enough to begin to destroy gum tissue.    This is, of course, know as gum disease.  This is a problem that experts tell us about 75% of people have - whether they are aware of it or not.

What are normal periodontal pocket depths?

Normal periodontal pocket depths are pockets that are 3 mm or less in depth.  This should be true for the tissue sorrounding each tooth in your mouth.   There is some debate that towards the back, at the molars, it might be ok to have 4mm.   But everywhere else should be 3 or less and no more than three millimeters in periodontal pocket depth.

The HydroFloss has helped many people to reduce their periodontal pockets.  This includes me personally.   I was facing a number of 4, 5 and even one 6 mm periodontal pocket reading.  This is essentially the objective measurement of gum disease.

I would recommend reading more about the HydroFloss  and  the pocket pal jet tips.

The HydroFloss helped me to shrink those pockets down to normal levels and it is helped me to maintain those depths at normal levels for some 15 years.  Sometimes, I see a 4 pop up here or there and that is a sign to me that I have slacked off on my hydrofloss use.  When I become diligent again, those pockets go back to normal readings at the next dental office visit.

Keeping Your Teeth And Gums Healthy During Troubling Times

What do you do when you can't visit the dentist?

What do you do to help keep your teeth and gums healthy if you are unable, through no fault of your own, to get your teeth cleaned  - because your local dentist office is closed until further notice?

Troubling questions.

My attempt to answer these questions revolves around a simple principle.   We try our best to do everything we can to keep the plaque and tartar to a minimum until we can get our teeth cleaned again.

To my way of thinking, one of the most powerful tools to help me to do this is the HydroFloss

Of course, we want to visit our dentist.  But, if your area of the country or world is like mine, I cannot get a dental appointment because the offices are closed!

What we do know is that studies have shown that the HydroFloss is about 50% more effective than other brands of irrigators that do not employ hydromagnetic technology.

Those journal articles, in case you are interested, were published in May of 1993 and April of 1998 in the prestigious Journal of Clinical Periodontology.

Keeping the plaque and tartar to a minimum in between dental cleanings is perhaps one of the most important tasks we can undertake.

This is because it is under the plaque and tartar that the 'bad' bacteria do their dirty work of destroying enamel and gum tissue.

They are shielded from oxygen when this happens.  The kind of metabolic process that happens when the 'bad' bacteria are shielded from oxygen is that of anaerobic respiration.  This is when these bacteria begin to secrete acids as a byproduct of metabolism.

You guessed it!  This is where the problem starts.

For this reason dental plaque must be disrupted daily.   Failure to do so means that the film biolayer called plaque will become complete and the 'bad' bacteria are sufficiently shielded from oxygen to literally do their dirty work.

It is up to you to disrupt this plaque formation daily.  Remember the time is short and this should be done every day to maximize your attempts to stop the damage from occuring or continuing.

You can read more about the HydroFloss here.  It's proven to be a fantastic tool in my personal daily routine for my teeth and gums.  I definitely feel that it has played an important role in shrinking and maintaining healthy periodontal pocket levels.

Times of stress are one of the more difficult times.  When we are stressed we tend to neglect our teeth and that is where the power of the HydroFloss comes in .

Lung Infections and Gum Disease

Lung Infections and Gum Health Or Disease

I found an interesting abstract in PubMed about respiratory disease and gum disease.
It appears that gum health (or lack of it) has some relationship to lung infections.
The conclusion of the abstract:  "The findings of the present analysis support an association between respiratory and periodontal disease..."

Here is a link to the abstract if you care to read it:    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21219100

I remember when I wrote my book about gum disease 12 years ago, that there was a seeming relationship between gum disease and lung infections - and a number of other diseases as well.

Research continues. We don't draw definitive conclusions.  But we also don't have to in order to take action that may be beneficial.

If farmers and ancient people knew that livestock were not good if there mouths were not healthy, it makes sense that researchers of today would start to notice this association too.

Gum disease is believed to be related to so many other health problems.  The question becomes, which comes first, the chicken or the egg?  That question doesn't currently have a definitive answer.  But I can tell you one quick story.   A doctor called me, he was an anesthesiologist.  He bought a HydroFloss and we got to talking about what he does.  He worked in cardiac surgery.   He mentioned that nearly all of the heart patients they operated on had rather advanced periodontal disease (gum disease).

Some thoughts to ponder.  The gum tissue in our mouth is rather thin.  That tissue has many blood vessels supplying it.   If there is an infection, like gum disease, it could act as a chronic wellspring that allows bacteria into your bloodstream.

I remember reading that when analyzing the plaque that occurs around the heart when arteries are diseased, that p. gingivalis - an oral bacteria known for causing gum disease was found in that heart plaque.

That being the case, that could easily count as a reason why the health of the mouth is related to the health of the rest of the body.

Bottom line:  Just an opinion, but it would seem prudent to keep on Hydro Flossing.

Don't Look A Gift Horse In The Mouth

Don't Look A Gift Horse In The Mouth  -  Dental and Overall Health - Generally Speaking

I want to talk about health in general, not in specifics as that can cause people anxiety or even anger.  Perhaps a little common sense is more reasonable?

There is a saying, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth".   This is an interesting statement and to understand what it means we have to look at the past.

Ancient peoples and even many of today's farmers understand what this means.   Both groups understood that when purchasing or acquiring livestock, you want to check the animal's teeth to make sure the mouth is healthy.

Now, why would that be?   The people of the past and some farmer's today understand that the mouth reflects the health of the body.

They would not choose livestock that demonstrated problems in the mouth.

"Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" likely meant, if it costs you nothing, you don't have to do the mouth check.

But the underlying principle is the health of the mouth reflects the health of the body - generally speaking.

So, can you influence the health of the body by keeping your mouth healthy?   Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

It's an interesting question.  I can only tell you that researchers of today's world have understood that there is some sort of connection between the health of the gums and a variety of diseases including but not limited to heart disease, diabetes, some cancers and more.

There is the possibility that if we would just keep our mouths healthier, we MIGHT be able to influence the health of our bodies.

The HydroFloss is one of the most powerful tools in my personal arsenal for helping to keep my gums and teeth healthy.

Just some thoughts to ponder - in general terms.

Please stay healthy and well,

-David

Gum Disease Is A Problem That Has Plagued Mankind For Thousands Of Years

 Gum Disease Facts

Gum disease is the number one reason people lose their teeth.    Many people don't realize this is the truth.

The second shocking truth is that approximately 3 out of every 4 people, or 75% of people have some gum disease now.

I learned a long time ago that keeping my periodontal pockets under control is the best defense against this awful problem that has plagued mankind for thousands of years.

The one tool that I can recommend to you that has helped me to do this is the HydroFloss:

Keeping your periodontal pockets to 3mm or less is the key.  When the pockets are that shallow, you may prevent the bacteria from destroying bone and flesh.

You can have your dentist or hygienist measure the pockets for you.   Make them do it on every visit.  This is the only objective way to know where you are at.

Gum Disease Is The Number One Cause Of Tooth Loss

Gum Disease Is The Number One Cause Of Tooth Loss

Nothing else comes close.   If you want to know what to do to stop or mitigate this problem, you are not alone.

Given that it is the number one cause of tooth loss, and nothing else comes close, it is a good idea to learn all that you can about this problem.

This book below will help you to understand both what this problem is and how you can deal with it.   BTW:  3 out of 4 people already have some gum disease.  That makes this book even more valuable.

Hydro Floss As Seen On TV

Hydro Floss As Seen On TV

I remember that the HydroFloss was on "The Doctors"  TV program and for good reason.  It may have also shown up on other TV or Cable programs as well.

The HydroFloss is one of the best tools you can have for your dental health.

Gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss and the hydrofloss has demonstrated it's superior ability to reduce plaque and tartar buildup - both of which are hallmarks of the ability of gum disease to destroy teeth.

You can find a hydrofloss here:

Does HydroFloss Irrigation Work?

Does HydroFloss Irrigation Work?

You bet it does.

Clinical Proof On HydroFloss Irrigation

First, there is clinical proof.   The HydroFloss was written about, not once, but twice, in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology

Both researchers found the HydroFloss to be more effective than irrigators that did not employ the HydroMagnetic Technology of the HydroFloss

These journal articles are from the May of 1993 and the April of 1998 issues of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology.

Personal Experience With HydroFloss Irrigation

The HydroFloss saved me from a 'deep cleaning' or Scaling and Root Planing or SRP treatment.

These treatments are expensive and often painful and may cause gum recession.

When I was told that I needed such a treatment,  I wondered if there was another way.

I tried many things, but nothing worked.

Finally, I tried the HydroFloss and it did work.

I know because my dentist said, "Whatever you are doing, keep it up.  You don't need that treatment any longer."

I've talked to many people over the years who have had a similar experience.

You can read more about the HydroFloss in these two places:

or here

The benefit to purchasing your HydroFloss on either the ToothyGrins.net site or the ToothyGrinsStore site is that I am willing to share what I did to get the HydroFloss to work for me.

This comes in the form of a no cost phone conversation, available only to those who purchase at one of the above two sites.    Market places don't count.

When you make your purchase, make your request for a no cost phone consult in the order notes or call the number at the top of this page with your order number ready.

Stay healthy and well
